UK Labels Are Paying a New Tax to Mail a Record to Europe
The EU killed the de minimis exception on July 1. Any small parcel under 150 euros now carries a flat 3-euro customs fee per product type, plus UK handling. A vinyl, a shirt, and a poster in the same box is 9 euros before the pound on the London end. UK Music's Tom Kiehl and AIM's Tony Morley put it in an open letter this week: the fee is too high to absorb on a 12-inch, and the only lever left is raising postage until the customer walks away. Mixmag and Music Ally both carried it today. November may add another handling charge. This is not a touring-visa story. This is the cost of selling a record to a room in Berlin from a kitchen in Bristol. If you still mail physical, price the fee or stop pretending the shop is frictionless.
Manchester Opened a Club Instead of Closing One
Locker takes over a sound-proofed ground-floor space inside New Century Manchester in October. Capacity is 450. Mixmag posted the first season today. Opening weekend is October 2-3 with Nooriyah, Paranoid London, and DJ Subaru. The run through December 11 already holds Two Shell, Logic1000, Soichi Terada, Jyoty, Heidi, IZCO, Bimini, and Y U QT. Music Venue Trust called it a grassroots add, not a brand exercise. Last week's briefs logged rooms shutting on rates bills and overcrowded tents. This one is a mid-size electronic room being built on purpose. Book it if the city is on the calendar. Ignore the food-hall history.
Fabric Took the Next Four Years at St Paul's
The Farringdon club signed as exclusive contemporary-music partner at St Paul's Cathedral through 2030. First date is October 29. Artist TBA. Cameron Leslie called it two different parts of London in the same building. RY X and Patti Smith already proved the room works. DJ Mag and Mixmag ran it this week. The Nelson Society called it an insult. That argument is not the story. The story is a working nightclub being trusted with a Grade I acoustic for four years instead of one prestige booking. fabric is also running UKF tonight in its own basement. Same operator, two rooms, two jobs.

Hot Since 82 - Obsessions (Knee Deep In Sound). Full album, out today. Nine tracks. Shaded, the Shades of Rhythm Sound of Eden rewrite, was the summer single. This is Daley Padley writing the rooms he actually plays, not a singles dump with an album sticker. Start on Shaded, then stay for the long ones.
Pont Neuf Records - 10 Years: In House We Trust. Out today. Twelve cuts, about forty-five minutes. Black Loops opens with HKK. Tour-Maubourg, Demuja, Mad Rey, Maison Blanche, THEOS, Mira Lo, Kx9000, Naajet, Dylan Dylan, Goldie B. Paris house label treating its tenth year as a working compilation, not a heritage plaque. Play HKK first, then the Tour-Maubourg cut.
KlevaKeys - They Won't Play This (House Keys Records). Released September 2. Deep, patient, trumpet and guitar over a meditative groove. Bandcamp is live. Shawn Joseph mastered it. If the Friday house hour needs something that sits instead of announces itself, this is the one.

Goldie put Jungle Daze (Break Remix) out today on Goldie Inc. Charlie Break's version is the one the Signal Festival clip was teasing. The original with Natalie Williams has been circulating since July. This is the remix that drags it back into the dark. Play it before the 8p show locks. Photek's VIP is the other name attached to the same record in the comments. Chase the Break cut first.
UKF's current single is Kanine and Jem Cooke - Surrender, dated September 2. Three minutes twenty-three. Dancefloor vocal, no costume. Anaïs is on the fabric bill tonight. Revival and Round Town from last Friday are still the other two UKF records that should be in your selector bag.
Hospital kept the liquid lane moving. Etherwood and Grace Barton - Haven landed September 3. Logistics versus Everything But The Girl still sits as a 12-inch dated September 11: remix on the A, Instrumental Dub Mix on the B. That vinyl is the physical note of the window. Digital has been circulating since August 28.
Hybrid Minds dropped how it used to be today with Nixxy Rain and Dame. Festival record all summer, now a Friday release on their own imprint. Nixxy Rain is Dave Kennett after SpectraSoul. That is liquid with a name you already know on the credits. Kings of the Rollers put Forever out September 3 on Souped Up. Serum, Voltage, and Bladerunner writing rollers the way they write rollers. No press angle required.

Crossfader's Being a good DJ is no longer enough and PDot's When You Don't Feel Like DJing Anymore are the two career talks in the same pile. One is the 2026 job description. The other is burnout said out loud. Neither replaces a record. Both are honest about the week between gigs.
