The Money Windows Are Open This Week @ Bandcamp
Bandcamp Friday is tomorrow, September 4, midnight to midnight Pacific. The platform waives its cut. Payment processing still comes out. Four Fridays remain in 2026 after this one. Same week, Arts Council England published guidance for the Music Creators Growth Fund: 10,000 to 20,000 pounds for artists, DJs, producers, and collectives. Round one opens October 1 and closes October 29. The separate Music Growth Fund for venues, labels, and promoters had its first 1,000-to-40,000 pound window close today, September 3. Round two opens tomorrow. This is not a vibe piece about the health of independent music. It is two forms and one sales day. Use them or watch someone else use them.
Artists Sued Suno Over Their Names, Not Their Masters
Jason Isbell, David Lowery, Guy Forsyth, and Eduardo Calle filed a class-action in Massachusetts federal court on August 31. The claim is not copyright. It is right of publicity. They say Suno encoded their identities into the model and still answers a name prompt with a song that sounds like them - Isbell's example is an Americana cut called Paper Bell. Suno says it blocks names and that the case has no merit. The earlier UMG and Justice filings against the same company sit on the copyright side of the ledger. This one asks a simpler question for anyone who still writes and plays records: if the voice and the style are the product, who owns the imitation when the prompt is just a name. Apple's Made With AI label is already closed here. This is the next door.
Reading and Leeds Built a Dance Tent and Then Had to Shut It
Festival Republic opened purpose-built Warehouse stages at both sites for the August 27-30 bank holiday. Demand outran the rooms. Reading cancelled Prospa and Skepta, then Omar+. Leeds cut Julian Fijma mid-set, then cancelled Silva Bumpa, Locky, and a second Omar+ date in two days. DJ Mag carried the tally on September 1. Fans waited two hours and got a closed tent. Safety first is not the argument. Capacity planning is. Dance is not a side stage anymore, and a few-thousand-cap warehouse cannot swallow a 20,000-draw name without the barriers coming down. If you book electronic music into a rock festival in 2026, size the room for the music you advertised.

Resident Advisor published Best Music 2026: August this morning. The house note inside it is Luomo. Sasu Ripatti put the alias down for fifteen years after Plus. RA clocked the return as microhouse built for 2026, not a heritage replay. If Tuesday nights here still need a long, vocal, slightly broken house record, that is the name to chase on his own Bandcamp before the month moves on.

LCD Soundsystem is six days from the next headline date. September 9 at Thompson's Point in Portland, Maine. Then three nights at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, September 10-12, with Victoryland opening. Asheville on the 17th at Hellbender by The Orange Peel. Iron Blossom in Richmond on the 19th. Shaky Knees in Atlanta on the 20th. Oregon reviews already logged x-ray eyes as a live song from the still-unreleased fifth album. Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney, and Tyler Pope are in the band. Still Going - Spaghetti Circus landed as a DFA 12-inch dated August 11. Eric and Gavilán Rayna Russom's project has always sat on the label's left edge: drum-machine repetition, guitar as texture, no costume. If the Watergirls record is the emotional center this month, this is the utility record next to it.
EXEK's Prove The Mountains Move and RIP Magic's 5words, produced by James Murphy, remain the other 2026 DFA LPs worth keeping in the bag. The Rapture's In The Grace of Your Love double LP repress is still on shelves. Mermaid Chunky's slif slaf slof and the céilí remix 12-inch are the oddball end of the same catalogue.
Riki and TVAM put The Sorrow out September 2 on Psychic Data. Synth-led, guitar-edged, 105 to 157. That is current indie dance with a post-punk spine, not a heritage booking. Worth a pass before the Thursday rundown locks.
New Order's South America run is still the live date sheet for the lineage: November 23 and 25 at Espaco Unimed in Sao Paulo; November 28 at Fauna Primavera in Santiago; December 1 at Mandarine Park in Buenos Aires; December 5 at Veltrac Music Festival in Lima; December 9 at Movistar Arena in Bogota. Pet Shop Boys closed Dreamworld on August 22 in Esbjerg. No further PSB dates are posted. Duran Duran put Madrid on the board for November 6 at Movistar Arena. General sale opens today, September 3. Hamburg October 5 and Cologne October 8 sit earlier on the same European list.
