DJ Nobu Stopped His Own Set After the Booth Stopped Feeling Like a Booth
Resident Advisor published the report on September 7. Japanese selector DJ Nobu was playing in Geneva on Saturday, September 5, when people tried to touch his USBs, came into the booth for photos, put their arms around him, and shone phone lights into his face. He said it was the first time in his life he pulled the music down himself. After he spoke to the room, the night recovered and he finished the set. The booking also included Audrey Danza. The night before he had played Draaimolen in the Netherlands. This is not a celebrity spat. It is a working DJ drawing a line around the tools, the booth, and the people who came to dance. If the floor cannot leave the selector alone for an hour, the set stops being a set.
German Court Rules a Two-Second Kraftwerk Sample Can Count as Pastiche
Germany's Federal Court of Justice ruled on September 3 in the long Moses Pelham case. Pelham looped a short passage from Kraftwerk's 1977 track Metall auf Metall on Sabrina Setlur's 1997 record Nur mir. Kraftwerk cofounder Ralf Hütter has been in court over that sample since 1999. The new ruling says that, under German copyright law as amended in 2021, the use can qualify as pastiche and does not need permission from the original rights holders. Presiding judge Thomas Koch said the test is whether a listener who knows the original can recognize what was borrowed, and that moving the fragment into another genre can count as a creative dialogue. The European Court of Justice had already opened that door in April. For anyone who builds records with other people's drums, this is the named legal shift of the week, not a slogan about sampling being free.
Amsterdam Dance Event Adds a Second Wave and Crosses 1,500 Artists
DJ Mag reported on September 2 that ADE's second-wave lineup takes the 2026 edition past 1,500 artists. The conference and citywide program runs October 21 to 25 for the event's 30th year. New names in this stack include Afrojack, HAAi, Boris Brejcha, Eric Prydz, Kerri Chandler, Angel D'lite, DJ Stingray 313, and Donato Dozzy. Earlier confirms already included Avalon Emerson, Octo Octa, DJ Nobu, Folamour, DJ EZ, Freddy K, Jyoty, Amelie Lens, Shanti Celeste, Job Jobse, and Sammy Virji. Jean-Michel Jarre is the guest of honor and plays the Opening Concert at AFAS Live on October 21, marking 50 years of Oxygène. Skepta brings Más Tiempo to Warehouse Elementenstraat. This is the industry week that still functions as a listening week if you treat the clubs as the point, not the panels.
Resident Advisor Named Its Making Time Stage
RA published the 2026 Making Time infinity stage on September 3. The Philadelphia weekender returns to Fort Mifflin from September 18 to 20. RA's own stage includes Aurora Halal b2b Verraco, Skee Mask, Batu, Optimo (Espacio), Erol Alkan, Loidis, Mark Ernestus, and a John Talabot TRANSCENDisco set. Live sets include Dopplereffekt, Daniel Avery, Jump Source, and Trick Pony. The wider bill still lists Theo Parrish, Daphni, Octo Octa, Eris Drew, and Lena Willikens. Culoe De Song - Webaba EP on Innervisions. The 12-inch returned to shops around August 14 in black and red vinyl, catalogue IV30. Two long cuts: Webaba and Far Away. Innervisions also put the original 2010 pair on Bandcamp this cycle, so you can buy the files without hunting a discogs copy. These are nine-minute records built for a slow blend, which is why they sit here instead of a short club trailer.
Crane - Daddy's Home on Robsoul, catalogue RB378, out on September 1. Phil Weeks posted it with Some Too Suspect's Excusas on RB379 as the label's September pair. Robsoul is classic jacking house that still programs cleanly next to the station-priority labels. Start with Daddy's Home if you need a new peak-time tool from this week rather than a leftover compilation.
Fort Romeau - Lovin' U arrives on Rekids on September 11, catalogue REKIDS 297. Three cuts: Lovin' U, No Limit, and Breathe (Trip mix). Radio Slave's label remains one of the cleanest homes for deep house that still moves. Mark the date if you buy vinyl on release week.

Djrum Will Mix the Next DJ-Kicks, Recorded on Vinyl Then Cut Together
Pitchfork carried the announcement on September 2. DJ Mag followed on September 4. Felix Manuel, who records as Djrum, will deliver the next !K7 DJ-Kicks on October 16. The mix is 33 tracks. It includes exclusives from Skee Mask and Clark, four new Djrum originals, and records by Venetian Snares, upsammy, Susumu Yokota, Emptyset, and a Raincoats cut, Only Loved at Night. He mixed vinyl live, then chopped different takes, collaged them, and overdubbed until the arc held. His own line on the method is that he likes a mix to be a bit bumpy, with ups and downs, and to mess with expectations. Psychic Video is the first original out of the session. This is a craft story first. The finished record is a programmed journey, not a live rip dumped online.

Resident Advisor Posted RA.1055 by Grace Dahl
The new RA Podcast went up around September 6. It runs one hour and three minutes. Dahl is the Amsterdam Vault Sessions resident behind Serial Disc Touchers. RA describes the mix as supersized techno that starts dubbed-out and melancholic, waits until about the 20-minute mark to get funky, then moves through bleep techno, 303 work, and a hint of vintage UK rave. The tracklist spans VNTM, Villa, Luke Slater, Underworld, and Ian Axide. Tracklist and Q&A live at the RA podcast page. Mixcloud has the audio now. This is the current numbered RA mix, not a leftover interview.
