Pagliara is the Italian selector whose records sit next to Rekids and the deeper end of classic house, and he is also booked in Locker Manchester's opening season. Who Killed the Dancefloor? Decoded Traces the Private Equity Takeover
Decoded Magazine published the essay on September 8. The argument is that three global booking agencies and private-equity festival owners now decide who plays, where they play, and what a ticket costs. Superstruct, which runs Sziget, Creamfields, Awakenings, and Boiler Room, was bought by KKR for 1.3 billion euros in 2024. A Coachella 2026 lineup study found that almost three in four artists came from four agencies, with Wasserman Music alone at 32 percent. IMS figures for 2026 put live electronic revenue at 30 billion dollars, more than double the pre-pandemic number, driven by higher prices rather than more people in the room. The piece sits next to this week's Boomtown film. Same industry, different evidence.
A New Boomtown Film Asks Who Owns the Night, and Who Owns the Data
Resident Advisor posted the story on September 8. Journalist Simon Doherty uploaded a 25-minute film, Festivals Have Become a Data Collection Dystopia, on September 6. He uses Boomtown as the case. Live Nation and SJM Concerts took a 45 percent stake in 2022. The film shows cashless wristbands that harvest purchase data, an app that tracks movement around the site, and live facial recognition. Doherty's question is simple. When a festival that was built as an independent gathering starts treating the crowd as a dataset, where does the night still belong to the people inside it. Last year the Association of Independent Festivals asked for Live Nation to be broken up, citing a 66.4 percent share of the UK market against a 25 percent monopoly threshold. This is a club-culture story even if the setting is a field. The same companies that own festivals also book rooms, and the same wristband logic is already in large venues.
Sonny Fodera Puts One Pound Per Arena Ticket Toward UK Grassroots Rooms
Resident Advisor reported the pledge on September 8. One pound from every ticket on Fodera's four March 2027 UK arena dates will go to LIVE Trust, the fund that supports grassroots venues, artists, and the wider small-room economy. The shows include Utilita Arena Newcastle on March 19, 2027. LIVE Trust already counts Coldplay, Harry Styles, Sam Fender, and the Royal Albert Hall among the acts and rooms that have added the same pound-per-ticket contribution. Fodera is a house DJ who now plays arenas. The point of the pledge is the rooms that cannot. Small venues are still where most DJs learn to read a floor, and they are still the first rooms to close when costs rise. The Trust published its first half-million in grants earlier this year. This is not a slogan. It is a named transfer from a large house tour into the rooms that tour cannot replace.
Chris Lake Says Most Current House Is Recycling Old Ideas
NYLON published the cover interview on September 3. EDMTunes followed on September 4. Lake just finished a year that included a Grammy nomination, his debut album Chemistry, and a remix request from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for Opalite. He still told the magazine that at least 90 percent of house, and probably more, is borrowing old sounds and old structures instead of building new ones. He blamed money loops and algorithms for watering the work down. He also said live performance is the part that still feels real, and that the shows are as strong as they have been in years. The argument is not new. Hearing it from a producer who lives at the commercial end of house makes it useful this week. If the records on the radio all sound like last year's records, the rooms have to do the work the files are not doing.

Luomo - puolesta. Sasu Ripatti put this one out himself on Bandcamp. Resident Advisor included it in the August edition of Best Music 2026, and that roundup went up on September 3. Ripatti parked the Luomo name for about 15 years after Plus in 2011. The new tracks bring back that Vocalcity microhouse pulse without dressing it up as a reunion costume. CamelPhat - Landlords Nightmare. Diynamic puts this out on September 9. Diynamic is one of the house labels the station comes back to week after week, the same home as Solomun and the Four To The Floor series. Weekend, the Alexanderplatz club where Dixon's Innercity parties grew into Innervisions, was in the news on September 8 for a disputed security incident on September 5. Police were called after a guest alleged a guard threatened him with a gun. The club denied the account and said staff do not carry weapons. Police searched the room and did not find one.

She works with EBM, Italo, and hardware, including a Yamaha GX-1, and talks through how piano and club work in Krakow and Berlin shape the records. It is a maker piece, not a DJ set.
A new Laurent Garnier biography is out. Resident Advisor listed Mathilde Ramadier's book on September 8. It traces Garnier's life in music. Useful if you want a long house-and-techno reading list this week instead of another mix.
