Oddfellows at 900 Fremont Street runs retro rewind / darkfloor on Friday, September 11, from 10 p.m. The main room plays 80s through the early 2000s. The lounge runs goth, new wave, and dark dance. If you want a downtown room that still treats those decades as dance music instead of a costume hour, this is the night.

Saeed Younan plays Pachi-Pachi on Saturday, September 12, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. The room is at 211 S. Las Vegas Blvd, Suite 120, downtown. Robtronik.FM is co-presenting the night with Pachi-Pachi, Compression, and Soulkitchen.

Saeed Younan (Younan Music) is a true underground heavyweight. Born in Baghdad and forced to flee Iraq in 1980, he turned music into both sanctuary and lifelong mission. For more than two decades he has been a driving force in house and techno — a DJ’s DJ known for precise, hypnotic, rolling grooves that control the floor from open to close.

Horse Meat Disco plays Catch One on Saturday, October 31. The room is at 4067 West Pico Boulevard. Doors are listed at 9:30 p.m. Bears in Space presents the night as a Halloween date with Horse Meat Disco. The same pairing already worked Catch One on June 5 for an LA Pride all-nighter. Horse Meat Disco is Luke Howard, Severino Panzetta, James Hillard, and Jim Stanton, the London four-piece that has run Sunday disco at Eagle Vauxhall since 2004. Tickets are listed through Songkick and SeatGeek.

San Francisco.

Horse Meat Disco plays Bearracuda Folsom Street at Public Works, 161 Erie Street, on Friday, September 25, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Mateo Segade from Los Angeles is upstairs. The night is Bearracuda's Folsom Friday party, 21 and over. Horse Meat Disco takes the main floor. That is the San Francisco disco night to mark if you are going out that weekend.

Anyma's Istanbul Date Was Pulled After AI-Altered Clips Hit the Governor's Office

DJ Mag reported the cancellation on September 4 and carried Anyma's statement on September 7. Billboard followed the promoter's appeal on September 8. Matteo Milleri's ÆDEN show was booked for Saturday, September 12, at Ataköy Marina Arena. The Istanbul Governor's Office withdrew permission after social posts framed the visuals as satanic. Turkey's fact-checking outlet Teyit confirmed the reason with the provincial press office. Anyma said the darker frames were taken out of context, altered with AI, paired with other music, and pushed online as if they were the whole show. He said none of his visuals are AI-generated. The local promoter filed a second permit with that statement attached and asked for the date to be restored. This is a club-culture story about who gets to decide what a dance show is allowed to look like, and about clips traveling faster than the people who made them.

Brian Eno Puts Opal Records Back to Work

DJ Mag and NME posted the announcement on September 9. Eno founded Opal in 1988 as a home for records that did not fit a major-label lane. The first run included Jon Hassell, Laraaji, Harold Budd, John Cale, and Eno's brother Roger. The imprint went quiet in 1991. The restart lands on October 16 with two albums that have been hard to buy outside Japan for years: 2005's Another Day On Earth, and Drawn From Life, the 2001 collaboration with J. Peter Schwalm. Two unreleased 2001 live videos went up with the news, Caught Between from Porto and Persis from Fuji Rock. One percent of Opal sales is marked for EarthPercent. This is a catalog story with a working date, not a nostalgia post.

SEQUENCE Marks Ten Years With Its First Washington, D.C. Party in Six Years

Resident Advisor posted the booking on September 8. SEQUENCE returns on October 24 for its first party in six years, with Perc, Juana b2b Ron Jackson, Scotia, DJ Dubu, Chelle, and resident Damon Bradley. The room and address will be announced the day of the party. The night uses the Grand Ancestor Sound System. SEQUENCE spent a decade booking DC rooms outside the festival circuit. A six-year gap is long enough that a return is news, not a routine calendar add.

// GLOBAL DANCE MUSIC RELEASES OF THE DAY

Folamour - Music is Life. The single came out on September 4 on FHUO through All Night Long. It is a 127 BPM house cut with disco in the grain, which is why it leads this shelf. Folamour posted a short breakdown of how he built the track ahead of that Friday. He played Cabaret Sauvage in Paris on September 5.

CamelPhat - Landlords Nightmare. Diynamic released this on September 9. Diynamic is the Hamburg house label that also runs the Four To The Floor series and put out Alphadog's Rockstar on September 4. The new cut sits on the tech-house side of that catalog. Buy it if you want a current Diynamic tool rather than another leftover compilation.

Tony Joe White and Flying Mojito Bros - The Swamp Fox vinyl. The digital album has been out since March. The limited baby-blue 12-inch is listed as shipping on or around September 14, in an edition of 500, from the Flying Mojito Bros Bandcamp. The Los Angeles pair call the project desert disco and outlaw house. The next live date after last weekend's Denver show is Loft Studios in London on September 19.

// WEDNESDAY'S FLASHDANCE ESSENTIALS

Wednesdays we focus on classic anthems, disco-infused grooves, and tracks from the 70s through the early 2000s reworked with a modern edge. That means nu-disco, disco edits, classic house reworks, and edit culture, in support of FlashDance. The show airs Wednesdays from 8a to 10a and 8p to 10p PST.

John Talabot Plays a TRANSCENDisco Set at Making Time

Resident Advisor posted the stage announcement on September 3. Making Time returns to Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia from September 18 to 20. Talabot's booking is listed as a special TRANSCENDisco set, not a standard club hour. The festival used that same frame for him last year. The rest of RA's stage includes Optimo (Espacio), Erol Alkan, and Mark Ernestus. This is the named disco-leaning festival set in the window, and it is built for a long blend rather than a peak-time clip.

Purple Disco Machine Holds Pacha Ibiza on September 10

Thursday's room is Purple Disco Machine with Armand Van Helden, DIOSA, and Yuksek. The following Thursdays keep the same residency: Cerrone and Kenny Dope on September 17, Todd Terje on September 24, then Gerd Janson, Busy P, and Breakbot on October 1. That is the named closing-stretch disco booking this week. He is not on a confirmed Las Vegas date in this window.

Horse Meat Disco Continues a Heavy September

The London four-piece listed Ibiza, Austin, New Orleans, Berlin, and New York for the first week of the month. The next U.S. stretch is Phoenix on September 18, Minneapolis on September 19, San Francisco Public Works on September 25, and Chicago Smartbar on September 26. Manchester's Depot Mayfield with Homobloc is the same Saturday as Chicago. The Los Angeles date is Catch One on October 31 with Bears in Space, doors at 9:30 p.m. Every Sunday they are still at Eagle London.

Flying Mojito Bros Stay on the Road After The Swamp Fox

Nelson Ledges in Ohio was September 4. Cervantes in Denver was September 6. London Loft Studios is September 19, on a bill that also lists Todd Terje and the Idjut Boys. Valley Of The Seven Stars in Virginia follows October 9 to 11. Buy the vinyl from Bandcamp if you want the physical copy rather than the files you already have.

Beatport lists Disco Boogie on Discoweey for October 1 and Find Your Own Style on Soulful Evolution for October 2. Those are calendar notes, not this week's files. His late-summer titles Nobody Cares and Boogie Celebration already circulated in August. Mark the October pair if you buy on release week.

Kinky Foxx - Lovely Night and Call You Up

Super Disco Edits put both cuts out on September 1. They sit at 116 BPM, which is the tempo where a disco record can still talk to a house blend without getting rushed. The label is built for DJ 7-inches. The Exchange in London cut a Lovely Night vinyl earlier this year. Use these when the midweek show needs an actual edit, not another new original that only sounds like disco.

Hlynur Sölvi Bandcamp

The Icelandic re-edit page is the working shelf for 70s and 80s floor records stretched so a modern set can hold them. D Train's Keep On is one of the current mixes. That is the craft this show is built on: keep the vocal, lengthen the drums, leave room to mix.

Red Means Recording walks the history of Detroit techno without turning it into a slogan reel. Watch this if you want the lineage behind the rooms and records this station still treats as living music.

Readipop Opened a Rare-Synth Studio to the Public on 909 Day

DJ Mag posted the story on September 9. 909 Day is the informal calendar mark for Roland's TR-909, the 1983 drum machine that still sits under a large share of house and techno records. The XOX collection lives at Readipop, a music and arts charity in Reading. The racks include a TR-808, a TR-909, a TB-303, an E-mu SP-12, an Akai S612, an SH-101, a Juno-6, a Juno-106, and Roland's first drum machine, the TR-77 from 1972. There is also a pair of turntables signed by Grandmaster Flash. Sessions can be booked through Readipop. The point is access. Hearing those boxes in a room is different from loading a sample pack.
