LV, LA, SF happenings; Factory Floor news updates, DFA, Rekids, & More
Thursday Factory Floor Focus | September 4-10, 2026 - Thursdays we stay with indie dance, post-punk electronics, and the line from New Order to LCD Soundsystem. That is Factory Floor - on Thursdays at 8a and 8p PST.
// BEST COAST: LV . LA . SF
Las Vegas.
Magic Sword plays Swan Dive on Friday, September 18. Doors are listed at 8 p.m. The room is at 1301 South Main Street. Magic Sword is a masked live electronic project built on analog synths and soundtrack pulse, which is the kind of night that still treats electronics as a band in a small room rather than a DJ booth on the Strip.
Los Angeles.
Soulwax plays The Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Boulevard, on Thursday, September 17, and Friday, September 18. Both nights start at 9 p.m. KCRW is presenting the Thursday date. The Dewaele brothers run this as the Land of the Free Tour. After Los Angeles they play The Sound in Del Mar on September 20. Peter Hook and The Light play the Hollywood Palladium, 6215 West Sunset Boulevard, on Saturday, September 19. Doors are 7 p.m. and the set starts at 8 p.m. The night is billed as New Order's Get Ready album in full, plus Joy Division and New Order songs. That is the Los Angeles week if you want guitar-edged electronics and the Manchester bassline in the same city.
San Francisco.
MGMT play a DJ set at Public Works, 161 Erie Street, on Saturday, September 19, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Goldenvoice presents the night. Peter Hook and The Light play The Warfield on Monday, September 21, at 8 p.m. Soulwax follows at The Regency Ballroom on Thursday, September 24. Three different rooms, three versions of the same lineage: indie electronics as a club set, New Order songs as a live band, and the Dewaele brothers as a touring machine.

Swedish House Mafia Book Four Ullevi Nights and Nothing Else in Europe for 2027
DJ Mag published the announcement on September 10. Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso will play Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg on July 2, July 3, July 9, and July 10, 2027. They said those four nights are their only European live shows next year. There will be no European arena tour, no European stadium tour, and no festival dates as a trio. The booking follows the August 29 Ullevi show that drew 65,972 people after a storm stopped the night before. Registration for tickets closes on September 14 at midnight CET. The general sale starts on September 19. People who held tickets for the cancelled August date get first look. This is a home-stadium story, not a victory lap.
Amelie Lens Played to 14,000 People in Front of an Antwerp Museum
DJ Mag posted the clips on September 10. Lens played a three-hour set outside Antwerp's Royal Museum of Fine Art last weekend to mark the release of her debut album AURA. The record came out on September 4 on her own EXHALE label. It is eleven tracks. Angèle is the only guest, on run. Lens called the museum night a dream that 14,000 people finished for her. The album is on Bandcamp as files and as a transparent and blue double LP. AURA dates continue through the autumn, including Washington, D.C. on September 18, Denver on September 19, Los Angeles on September 26, and Amsterdam Dance Event in October. This is a hometown record launch that used a public square instead of a club.
Deadmau5 Leaves CAA for Independent Artist Group
Variety reported the signing on September 10. Joel Zimmerman signed with Independent Artist Group for music, film, television, digital content, gaming, technology, and intellectual property. He was previously with CAA. He said he wants to rebuild properties that already travel with the records, including the Coffee Run interview series, Oberhasli Games, and Auto/Pilot, the live-performance software he uses on stage. In March 2025 he sold his catalog and the Mau5trap label to Create Music Group in a deal valued at more than 55 million dollars, covering more than 4,000 recordings. IAG's pitch is crossover work an artist can own. The signing is a business story about what a dance act does after the catalog is sold.
// GLOBAL DANCE MUSIC RELEASES OF THE DAY
The Watergirls - The Whole of the Moon. Digital is already on the DFA Bandcamp.
The limited 12-inch arrives on October 2 with Hardway Bros mixes from Sean Johnston. The record is a one-time cover of the Waterboys song made for Keith McIvor, JD Twitch of Optimo, who died in 2025. James Murphy, Bob Weston, CC:DISCO!, Fantastic Twins, and Mhairi McClymont are on it. Profits go to Beatson Cancer Charity and the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence. Buy the files now if you want them in the bag before the vinyl ships.
Amelie Lens - AURA.
The debut album came out on September 4 on EXHALE. Eleven tracks. Bandcamp has the download and the transparent and blue double vinyl. This is the current full-length from a techno artist who still writes for both a festival rig and a 4 a.m. room.
Fort Romeau - Lovin' U.
Radio Slave's Rekids label has this EP listed for September 11 as REKIDS 297. The three cuts are Lovin' U, No Limit, and Breathe (Trip mix). Fort Romeau is Michael Greene, the English producer who used to tour with La Roux and now writes deep house that still leaves space in the middle. Spotify already shows the EP on a release countdown. Mark tomorrow if you buy on street date.
// THURSDAY'S FACTORY FLOOR ESSENTIALS
Thursdays we focus on pulsing synths, driving basslines, and guitar-edged electronic music in support of Factory Floor. The lane is indie dance and alternative electronic inspired by New Order, LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Talking Heads, Yazoo, Human League, and related 80s and 90s synth-pop and post-punk dance. The show airs Thursdays from 8a to 10a and 8p to 10p PST.
LCD Soundsystem Play Three Nights in New Haven Starting Tonight
The official site lists College Street Music Hall, 238 College Street, on September 10, 11, and 12. Victoryland opens. Doors for the Friday night are listed at 7 p.m. with an 8 p.m. start. The band played Thompson's Point in Portland, Maine, on September 9. After New Haven they go to Hellbender in Asheville on September 17, Iron Blossom Festival in Richmond on September 19, and Shaky Knees in Atlanta on September 20. The next run after that is Belly Up Aspen from December 30 through January 1. This is the live end of the DFA line this week, three nights in one room.
Stephen Morris Told Rolling Stone He May Not Play with New Order Again
Far Out carried the quotes on September 9 from a Rolling Stone interview that went up on September 8. Morris said the illness is pretty serious and not something someone is going to cure. He and Gillian Gilbert are already sitting out New Order's South American dates in November. He also said a two-day trip to New York for the Ian Curtis lyrics exhibition ended badly enough that he does not expect to travel for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on November 14. In a second Far Out piece the same day he answered Peter Hook's recent criticism by calling Hook an angry person and saying he does not know if there will ever be a reconciliation. Hook and The Light are the working New Order and Joy Division catalog on the West Coast this month. The surviving band and the bass player are on separate roads.
Joy Division's Eternal Box Lands September 25
Rhino and Warner put Eternal (Live) out on September 25. It is the first official live collection: 16 concerts on 14 CDs, two DVDs, Abbey Road mastering, notes by Simon Armitage, photographs by Anton Corbijn and Kevin Cummins. Two shows have never been released. Three more recordings had not circulated. The last disc is Birmingham, May 2, 1980, sixteen days before Ian Curtis died. Stephen Morris spent years on the transfers. Pitchfork and Rhino posted the announcement in June. The Rolling Stone interview from this week is the current talk-through of the same box. Transmission from Les Bains Douches in Paris is the preview track.
Club Underground Holds Friday at Grand Star
The weekly two-room night runs at Grand Star Jazz Club, 943 North Broadway in Chinatown, on Friday, September 11, from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. It is 21 and over. The rooms play indie, post-punk, new wave, synth-pop, Britpop, and dark dance. That is a working Los Angeles floor for this show, not a festival poster. Tickets are on the Club Underground Eventbrite page.
The Rapture's Last DFA Album Is Back on Vinyl
Piccadilly and DFA shops have the 2026 double-LP repress of In the Grace of Your Love. Philippe Zdar produced the 2011 record after the band returned from a major-label detour. How Deep Is Your Love is still the dance cut. It Takes Time to Be a Man is the closer. This is the catalog record to put next to Echoes if you want the DFA guitar-and-disco line without waiting on a new twelve.
// WORTH YOUR TIME
Tinzo - Dark Indie Dance Mix at Book Club Radio
YouTube. One hour and twenty minutes, posted September 3 from an August 8 party. The set moves through Galatée, Automelodi, Cabaret Nocturne, Buzz Kull, and NNHMN. Use this if you want a complete dark indie-dance hour instead of another short clip.
EXEK - Prove The Mountains Move
Bandcamp. The Melbourne sextet's DFA album from February. First pressings sold out and came back. Sidestepping is the open door. This is the current DFA band record, not a tribute twelve.
SEXTILE play Making Time
The Los Angeles pair are on Resident Advisor's Making Time stage in Philadelphia from September 18 to 20. Sacred Bones darkwave and post-punk electronics, built for a festival field that still wants a band pulse.
Electric Feels returns to the Echoplex
The indie-rock and electronic dance party is back at the Echoplex in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 26, at 9 p.m. It is 21 and over. The promoter posted the date on September 1.
