Lars Behrenroth Remixes DJ Octopuz on Deeper Shades
South African producer DJ Octopuz debuts on Deeper Shades Recordings with So Deep, featuring an exclusive Lars Behrenroth Dub Remix. The premiere dropped August 24 with the full release set for September 1. Behrenroth’s dub keeps the soulful core while stripping and reshaping the low end for deeper systems. Octopuz has a long track record in South African house circles; this pairing feels natural for the label. The track is already circulating in Deeper Shades Of House circles and fits the station’s Tuesday programming without friction.
Lee Burridge Releases Reaching Stars
Lee Burridge put out Reaching Stars on his own All Day I Dream imprint on August 21. The track sits in that melodic, atmospheric lane he has refined over decades - patient, warm, and built for the stretch between afternoon and late night. An extended mix runs past seven minutes, giving the arrangement room to breathe. Burridge has been playing it across summer sets and the timing lines up with ongoing All Day I Dream events. For selectors who value emotional continuity over peak-time pressure, this is useful material.
Robag Wruhme Lands Fumaxohn on Cocoon - vinyl sold out!
The vinyl sold out before the official drop. Robag Wruhme’s Fumaxohn EP arrived August 21 on Cocoon Recordings, four tracks of precise, unfolding minimal-leaning house that never rushes. Olahni opens with ghostly textures and vocal fragments that settle into a patient groove. The title cut shifts mood with warm harmonic layers while the bass stays locked. Sven Väth had been carrying Olahni in the bag for months, including on the Terrace at Amnesia. This is the kind of record that rewards repeated listens and long mixes. It sits squarely in the Cocoon tradition of music that moves without forcing the issue.

Cocoon’s 25 Years project is still the major label news for this year. Volume Two (CORLP060), released June 5 as a limited 5x12" box set, gathers exclusive tracks from Marcel Dettmann, Audion (Matthew Dear), Roman Flügel, Secret Cinema, André Galluzzi, Dana Ruh, Petar Dundov, Pig&Dan, Gregor Tresher, Emanuel Satie and others. For vinyl selectors the box remains essential listening and a clear marker of where the label still places its weight.
All Day I Dream followed Burridge’s Reaching Stars with a strong push from STAY GOLDEN. The Bali-based producer’s Silent Covenant package landed August 14 and includes Everything Sacred (with ÜNAM and ANTICALM), In Your Heart (with Kinky Sound and Alexey Union), and Synth Lines. Several cuts from the release climbed the upper ranks of Beatport’s Indie Dance chart within days. The material sits cleanly next to Burridge’s own work and gives the label fresh depth for longer sets.

Fletch - Lift You Up EP (Hard Times Records). Four rolling, groove-led deep house cuts with 90s-flavoured organ moments and late-night floor energy. Released around August 21.

The full premiere of DJ Octopuz So Deep (Lars Behrenroth Dub Remix) is up on the Deeper Shades Of House YouTube channel. Seven minutes of carefully shaped deep house that shows exactly why the remix earned its place.
Lee Burridge posted that he has been playing Reaching Stars across summer sets and that the track is now out on All Day I Dream. The extended mix runs 7:32. Recent solo material, including July’s Fading Out, has arrived during the period around the Sound of a Dream documentary on his career and the beginnings of the label. Stream both mixes here:
A24 has released the trailer for Club Kid, Jordan Firstman’s feature debut set in New York’s queer nightlife scene. Firstman writes, directs, and stars as a washed-up party promoter whose life shifts when he learns he has a 10-year-old son. The film premiered at Cannes, was acquired by A24 for $17 million, and lands in limited theatrical release on November 6. Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste are among the cast. Nightlife culture rarely gets this kind of big-screen treatment without turning cartoonish. Worth tracking.

MusicRadar resurfaced a classic Autechre interview this week that still cuts through the noise. Sean Booth and Rob Brown describe a deliberate workflow: when they buy new gear they leave it alone for six months until it becomes second nature. Only then do they start making work worth keeping. “There isn’t one thing about the gear that we’re using now that we don’t understand,” Booth says. The Roland R-8 and their analogue synths are treated as fully known instruments rather than novelty. In an era of endless plugins and instant results, the reminder is useful - depth over accumulation.
