Swedish House Mafia adapts to weather, Ibiza closing parties, tons of mixes!

Robtronik.FM News Brief – Monday Journeys Focus | August 25-31, 2026- Today we highlight notable online DJ sets, long-form mixes, and content about the art of DJing in support of Journeys (a show that is forthcoming dedicated to the art of the DJ set and DJs).

// CULTURE & CONTEXT

Swedish House Mafia Turned a Storm-Out into a Street Set, Then a Record

Friday night at Ullevi in Gothenburg got pulled for lightning and heavy rain. The trio posted the cancellation, then put a free hour on Götaplatsen / Avenyn on Saturday afternoon as part of Göteborgskalaset. About 40,000 people showed up in a public square with no ticket line. Saturday night they went back into Ullevi and filled 65,972. Live Nation called it the largest electronic crowd in the Nordics and the group's biggest Swedish date. This is not a press victory lap. It is what happens when a cancelled arena night still has to answer the city that bought the tickets. Play the records they built the rooms with. Leave the pyro out of it.

The White Isle calendar snapped into focus this week. Hï Ibiza locked October 9 as the last night of the year, with Black Coffee and Skepta already on the bill. [UNVRS] posted its second-season close with East End Dubs, The Martinez Brothers, Mochakk, Mella Dee and more. Ushuaïa put fifteen DJs on a marathon October date. Carl Cox still holds Sundays at [UNVRS] through October 4, including a Sasha and John Digweed booking on September 6. This is the working end of summer for anyone who programs house as a default and still treats the island as a seasonal job, not a postcard. Book what you need. Ignore the rest of the poster.

Rooms Open, Rooms Close

Bristol granted a 5am licence this week for a new music and arts venue inside a former Odeon cinema. That is a late licence in a city that still needs one. On the other side of the ledger, Club 69 in Paisley set October 10 as its last night after a run of farewell parties. IKLECTIK is leaving Peckham Levels after being denied business-rates relief as a cultural not-for-profit. TOLA in Peckham got burgled and asked its weekend crowd to be patient. The pattern is the same one selectors already know: a room is either a licence, a rates bill, and a lock, or it is a memory. Track the ones that stay open.

// House Releases Worth Noting

Maceo Plex - Monster EP (Rekids). Out August 28. Station-default label, first Plex record on Radio Slave's imprint, and the first straight electro package he has cut in a while. Flute Jam, Baby Monster with Baby Monsta, Cold Flow. Three tracks he has already been road-testing - OFFSONAR, Movement Detroit, then the bag. Vinyl is up. Play Flute Jam first if you want the room to lean forward.

Alphadog - Rockstar lands September 4 on the same label, with a Boogie Up instrumental already sitting on Beatport. Mark it. Do not wait for the newsletter.

DJ EZ Cut a Full Hour in the DJ Mag HQ Basement

DJ EZ made his DJ Mag HQ debut on August 28. Fifty-nine minutes of old-school and new-school UK garage, mixed the way he has been mixing it for three decades. Outstanding Contribution at last year's Best of British awards. Next stops on the public calendar: Skepta's Más Tiempo on the island, then ADE with DGTL in October. This is the technical reference of the window if you still care how garage is supposed to move between two records.

Carl Cox's August 2 [UNVRS] Hour Is Up on Radio 1 Dance

DJ Mag flagged it August 25. Recorded during the Sunday residency. Adam Beyer, Faithless (Adam Beyer remix of We Come 1), Paperkraft, Tony Cortez, kenz, Nicole Moudaber, Wink. One hour, not the two-hour vinyl Essential Mix from last season. Useful as a current-residency document before the September 6 Sasha and John Digweed night and the October 4 close. Listen to how he leaves space instead of stacking peak-time.

The Lot Radio Posted Named Hours All Week

Leon Vynehall, August 25, just under an hour. Randomer, August 28, one hour. Black Boy (Radio) with Dahi the same day. deep creep b2b NAP on August 30, nearly two hours. These are shipping-container hours from North 12th in Brooklyn, not festival clips. That is the live-room check this brief is built around.

Mixmag Is Still Updating the 2026 Mixes Ledger

The Best DJ Mixes of the Year 2026 So Far page remains the running public list: club recordings, residencies, radio hours. It is a map, not a ranking you have to obey. Use it to find the long sets you missed while you were working.

// Worth Your Time

Leon Vynehall - Live at The Lot Radio, August 25, 2026. YouTube. 56 minutes. House and tech house with a selector's pace. Start here if you only have one hour.

DJ EZ - UKG Masterclass Live From DJ Mag HQ, August 28, 2026. YouTube. 59:54. Garage as craft, not as a trend cycle.

Randomer - Live at The Lot Radio, August 28, 2026. YouTube. 60 minutes. Tighter and heavier than the Journeys center, useful as contrast for how a set can stay physical without rushing.

Carl Cox at [UNVRS] - Radio 1 Dance in Ibiza. BBC Sounds. One hour from August 2, posted in this window. Current island residency, not archive.

deep creep b2b NAP - Live at The Lot Radio, August 30, 2026. YouTube. 1:51. Weekend container hour if you want the long conversation instead of a tidy sixty.

Black Boy (Radio) with Dahi - The Lot Radio, August 28, 2026. YouTube. 55 minutes. Different crate than Vynehall. Same room.

Ewan McVicar B2B DART at Hï Ibiza - Radio 1 Dance in Ibiza, posted around August 30. BBC Sounds. Island b2b, full broadcast hour.
