Electronic Music Posts Strongest Growth of Any Genre in the US
Luminate’s 2026 Midyear Report showed dance and electronic music recording the largest year-over-year share gain of any genre in the first half of 2026. The category added 0.51 percentage points of U.S. on-demand audio share. Analysts pointed to both current hitmakers such as John Summit and Disco Lines and a surge of nostalgia streams for tracks originally released between 2015 and 2017, with The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s Closer cited as a leading example. The findings arrived after the global electronic music industry had already been valued at a record $15.1 billion.
